Forgotten figure of the New Orleans soul and R’n’B scene, Richard Caiton cut a few 45s that became collectors’ items. One of them is this official reissue: the very first single he recorded in 1964 with Dave Bartholomew at the legendary Cosimo Matassa’s studio (The Meters, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John and more).
This hard-to-find 45 combines two different sounds of the 60’s at their best. On one side, a hypnotic drum rhythm popular with the Rhythm & Blues and Northern Soul DJ’s. On the other, a magnificent ballad that will make you nostalgic for a time you didn't even know.

Early Yann Tiersen vibes: when it's joyful and sad at the same time. The sax sings pure and beautiful. The play on words is on point, but the rhythm actually has its personal warm feeling and wood-sound that takes you away to fantasy village dances.
One of those pieces you put in loop for days. Andrea Calligaris
