Johnny Zamot was born in Puerto Rico, raised in Brooklyn, and earned his fame in New York. Johnny, a young and talented bandleader has no formal musical training, yet his love for music was so strong that he taught himself to play all of the Latin percussion instruments. Developing his natural sense of timing and very sensitive ears he was able to follow music without losing a beat.
Although his composition of “Fat Mama” on Decca Records was
a hit, Zamot has not achieved his proper place with prominent
musicians because of poor management and exposure. In an attempt to join the ranks of latin music stars he has now written and recorded some of the grooviest boogaloos and Salsas to please the contemporary dancing and listenting public.
Now “Rocafort Records” present you a 45 with two of his biggest hits: “Are You Ready” and “Hey Mama”, only available before on his rare 1969 LP “Boogaloo Frog” and on a rare-as-hens-teeth 45 on the Grande label. Soul, Funk and Boogaloo dj’s and dancers gonna dig this release as it suits all dancefloors. Are you ready!?
